Barbara Hoover and her family (of 13 kids!) have owned and operated Hooverville Orchards, located in the beautiful hills of Placerville, since 1973. Their 72-acre oasis of orchards produces a seasonal spectacle of fruit including cherries (3 varieties), peaches (30 varieties), nectarines (10+ varieties), apples (20+ varieties), plums and pluots (10+ varieties) Asian pears (10 varieties), citrus varieties ranging from mandarins to kumquats, blueberries (more than 20 varieties), domestic and wild blackberries, boysenberries, mulberries… the list just keeps on going. They offer over 103 varieties of amazing jellies and jams made in small batches. And, on top of it all, they’re famous for their incredible pies that are made from just about anything they grow, which you can get topped with soft-serve ice cream if you visit their farm in Placerville.
